WELCOME MESSAGE

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 28th Annual General Meeting of the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Through its annual general meetings, MRSI has provided a strong platform for academia, scientists and engineers and students in the areas of conventional and advanced materials, and from across the country, to meet, interact and exchange ideas. The annual meetings are hosted in different parts of the country to reach researchers in various geographical locations. This year a MRSI symposium (MRSI-2017) on the theme “Advanced Materials for Healthcare, Clean Energy and Sustainability”, jointly organized by Indian institute of Technology Bombay, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and Mumbai University along with the MRSI Mumbai Chapter, is being held at Victor Menezes Convention Centre, Indian institute of Technology Bombay along with the 28th AGM of MRSI. In addition, MRSI continues to recognize numerous researchers practicing materials science (both experimental and theoretical), through medals and prizes. Over time, MRSI recognitions are considered valuable by various academic institutes and research organizations.

Materials with applications in healthcare, clean energy and sustainability are at the frontiers of technological and societal challenges for this century and also present us with great opportunities for research and technological breakthroughs. Hence, “Advanced Materials for Healthcare, Clean Energy and Sustainability” is an apt theme for the 28th AGM of MRSI. This conference aims to gather specialists in diverse areas in order to promote research and development on materials and related technologies. The organising committee has through detailed deliberations designed a technical program of high scientific caliber, encompassing latest developments in materials science and technology.

We take this opportunity to invite you all to participate in this event and benefit from high quality scientific deliberations.
